| Manitowoc Lincoln Wrestling has success at Wauwatosa West High School Manitowoc Lincoln’s wrestling team competed in the Wauwatosa West 8 team dual on Saturday, going 4 and 0 and taking first place. The first round dual versus South Milwaukee ended in a score of 46 to 25. Kyle Berchem (135) started the dual for Manitowoc Lincoln with a pin in 25 seconds. Eli Mrozinzky (160) followed with another pin four matches later in 2:57. With a tech fall from Tyler Wetencamp (171), Lincoln was down after nine matches 25 to 17 but Dylan Conjurski (103) helped bring the Ships back with a pin in 50 seconds. The pinning continued, with Jared Hall (112) receiving a pin in 54 seconds, Max Hansen (119) in 1:27, and Matt Longmeyer (125) in 20 seconds. Ben Brixius (130) finished the dual with a tech fall. The team advanced after the first round to the winner’s pool. In the second round Lincoln competed against Lake Geneva Badger. The Ships fell behind 26 to 7 after eight matches, earning 4 points for a major decision by Wetencamp and three points for a decision by Tyler Fitzgerald (189). Lincoln came back, winning the last six matches and the dual with a score of 35 to 26. Pins in the second round were earned by Hall in 50 seconds, Longmeyer in 16 seconds, and Berchem in 3:47. Also winning in the second round was Conjurski, Hansen, and Brixius. The round three match- up with Wauwatosa West found the Ships behind after two, but they made steady progress through the balance of the dual, beating Wauwatosa West 45 to 15. Pins in this round were earned by Berchem in 21 seconds and James Tienor (171) in 2:33. Wins by Conjurski, Hall, Hansen, Evan Pecore(130), Brandon Ruffalo (140), Wetencamp, Tyler Rodey (215) and a forfeit for Fitzgerald rounded out the competition. The final round of the day matched Manitowoc Lincoln with Wisconsin Lutheran. Eli Mrozinsky helped get Lincoln started with a pin in 2:59 followed by Fitzgerald in 2:55. Zach Pethan, at 285, had a last second takedown to win his match 6 to 5. This tied the dual at 14. With a decision win for Conjurski, and two forfeits for Hall and Hansen, Lincoln was up 29 to 14. Longmeyer provided a pin in 54 seconds, Pecore a decision, Berchem a pin in 5:14, and a decision for Ruffalo finalized the win as Manitowoc Lincoln won the dual 48 to 20. With first place going to the Manitowoc Lincoln, Lake Geneva Badger took second and Wisconsin Lutheran took third. Four Manitowoc Lincoln wrestlers earned metals as undefeated wrestlers at the event, Dylan Conjurski (103), Jared Hall (112), Max Hansen (119) and Kyle Berchem(135). |
